Dr. Annalisa Horton

Dr. Horton graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After several years of being an associate veterinarian, she decided to purchase Oceana Veterinary Clinic in Feb. of 2010. Annalisa, who is originally from Shelby, is very thankful to be able to serve this community. She lives in New Era with her husband, Jeremy, and three children, Natalie, Zach, and Audrey. They have a yellow lab (Lilly), a maltese (Oscar), 2 cats (Oreo and Cookies), and a pony (Uncle Don). She spends a great deal of time with her family. She also runs and hand quilts in her spare time.

 


 

Support Staff

Melissa Benway

Melissa brings 13 years of small animal veterinary experience to Oceana Veterinary Clinic. Her passion is dental health, patient care, and client education. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children. Melissa has a pug (Dexter) and a cat (Otto). As with many young moms, spare time is hard to come by so if Melissa had a spare moment, she would scrapbook, take long walks with Dexter, and knit.

Jessica Peterson

Jessica is our Licensed Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Baker College's Veterinary Technology Program. Jessica previously worked at Bellweather, where she gained valuable experience in both routine and shelter medicine. Jessica is originally from Shelby and decided to bring her talents back to private practice. Jessica enjoys dog training/behavior, her family, and spending time at the beach.

 


Jennifer Peterson

You will see Jennifer smiling behind the front desk or hear her ready to assist you over the phone. Jennifer graduated from Michigan State University and has spent time in sales and interior design. Jennifer lives in New Era with her husband, 2 sons, and daughter. They have a miniature schnauzer named Charlie, and adopted a calico cat named Mazie in the summer of 2011. In Jennifer's spare time she enjoys scrapbooking, reading, walking or hiking, and decorating. Jennifer, originally from the east side of the state, loves living in West Michigan and believes it is a great place for families and their pets.

Emily Neilsen

Emily joined our team in 2012 as our receptionist and veterinary assistant. She brought 6 1/2 years of experience in the veterinary field to our practice. She has a passion for taking care of people and values the relationships that she builds. Emily is originally from Hesperia and collects white cats (all rescues of course). In her spare time Emily enjoys spending time with her family, jeeping, and crafting.

Rachel Morrell

Rachel Morrell is our veterinary assistant. She is gaining on the job training while attending the AMVA accredited San Juan College of Veterinary Technology. She has always had a passion for pets and their owners. She is pursuing animal behavior as her area of concentration. Watch Out! Puppy kindergarten coming soon to OVC. Rachel is a long time resident of Montaque and devotes her spare time to coaching Montague High School Competitive Cheer. She has two Alaska Klee Kai dogs named Tabe and Avari.

 

Sammi Sikkenga

Sammi is a veterinary assistant and looks forward to attending Baker College to earn her degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She grew up on a dairy farm and has hands on experience with animal husbandry. She has a beautiful Siamese cat, Prince, and a quarter horse, Tail Spin. Most of Sammi's spare time is spent helping at the family farm or riding her horse
